Do you have a plum tree which has grown too large for easy picking?
Too busy to pick your apple tree?
Don’t know what to do with all that fruit?
Tired of cleaning up spoiled fruit from your yard?
Why not donate your own tree or your time this summer?
If you are in Seattle, the organization Community Harvest picks donated fruit from neighborhood trees to give to Food Banks. Community Harvest can connect you with volunteers to harvest your tree and distribute the fruit to food banks and other local groups. You can even help pick if you’d like. Regardless, they would be happy to leave you with a bag of fruit.
Last year they donated 4,500 pounds of fruit to the food banks. Help them meet their goal of 6,500 pounds for 2009. For more info: If you would like to have your tree harvested by Community Harvest, you can fill out their online form, call 206-762-0604 or contact info@gleanit.org.
